The Avocado Green 13" Pillowtop Mattress is hand-made and outer-tufted in the USA. Comfortable, supportive and made with GOLS-certified organic latex, GOTS-certified cotton and wool, and up to 1,459 individually wrapped support coils arranged in 7 ergonomic zones. 

Each individually pocketed coil flexes independently, while the GOLS-certified organic latex provides a gentle medium-firm feel. The GOTS-certified organic cotton and wool deliver breathable, luxurious comfort. Four reinforced handles make rotating a snap.

This mattress is made with NO chemical flame retardants, fiberglass, or polyurethane foams.  Made in Los Angeles with domestic and imported materials.  Received OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 label for safety.  Recommended by Consumer Reports.

The secret to Avocado's superior ergonomic support and durability is the best-in-class innerspring unit, a patent-pending design made by Avocado. It features up to 1,459 steel coils, individually encased in fabric pockets and arranged in multiple gauges and seven distinct zones. With coils that float independently, it boasts a reinforced steel perimeter for superior edge support. This system reduces motion transfer, keeps your back aligned, relieves back pain, distributes weight more evenly, alleviates pressure points, and lovingly contours your body’s natural curves.

NEEDLE TUFTED BY HAND

Avocado mattresses feature distinctive needle-tufted rosettes made from soft, white organic wool — a hallmark of quality.  In the tufting process, cotton ribbons are pulled through every layer of the mattress in up to 24 locations, held in place by the rosettes. Needle-tufting is a time-honored technique dating back to the 17th century. Because of hand tufting, no chemical adhesives are used to bind the layers together, which also radically improves durability.

Mother Nature knows best. Wool keeps you cool and dry in summer and warm in winter. Latex features an open-cell structure that keeps you from sinking in and trapping heat. Body contouring coils are individually wrapped for effective airflow. Don’t sweat a thing!

FREE Shipping VIA UPS - This mattress can be delivered right to your doorstep anywhere in the continental USA (limited to mattresses 150lbs or less).  Super convenient and easy to setup, the mattress arrives compressed and packaged in a small box and left at your door. Unpacking and setup is super easy and quick!

White Glove Delivery - Available in our local New Jersey delivery area.

  • 13" thick.
  • An organic cotton cover, GOTS & OEKO-TEX certified.
  • A quilt layer of organic natural wool, GOTS & OEKO-TEX certified.
  • A 4" layer of natural dunlop latex, GOLS certified, above the coils, and another 1" layer of latex below the coils.
  • An 8" pocketed coil support system arranged in 7 distinct ergonomic zones, made from recycled steel, with a coil count that ranges from 658 coils in a Twin size, up to 1,459 coils in a King size. 
  • Absolutely NO polyurethane foams, fiberglass or toxic fire retardants contained in this mattress.   

Materials

Avocado mattresses are made with natural​ and certified organic materials. The natural dunlop latex is made from the sustainably-tapped tree sap of rubber trees, and is GOLS certified. The all-natural GOTS certified wool and cotton are also OEKO-TEK Standard 100 Certified. And the responsive pocketed-coil system provides the very best pressure point relief and is constructed from 100% recycled steel.

Delivery Options

We are able to offer two delivery options for the Avocado Green mattress:

FREE Shipping via UPS - This mattress can be delivered anywhere in the continental USA via UPS (limited to 150lbs or less). The mattress will be delivered compressed in a small box and left at your door. You will need to unpack and setup the mattress yourself, but don't worry...it's easy!

WHITE GLOVE - In our local New Jersey delivery area, we're able to perform white-glove delivery to your home. If you choose this option, two men will arrive at a pre-scheduled time to deliver and setup your new mattress. Additionally, they will remove your old mattress for recycling.

"I needed a new mattress but realized that I didn't know what to look for to find a comfortable, affordable one. I bought a quality mattress from Bloomingdales but after it was delivered I found it was not at all comfortable even though I had tried it at the store. Bloomingdales accepted a return, and I was once again looking for a mattress, still not knowing how to find a comfortable one. I saw an ad for the ethical mattress company in nearby Millburn NJ, and when I went to the store, I received very good care. No hard sales pitch, helpful explanation of criteria on which to base a decision, clear explanation of the various kinds of mattresses and their differences, and the benefit of organic materials. What really drew me to make a purchase was the sales personnel. They took time to listen to me, the varying comfort levels. I began to understand the importance of organic materials and the care to manufacture a quality product. It was on seeing that Ethical mattress was a B Company that I felt I was in good hands and could trust the product and service. The delivery of the mattress and box springs went smoothly, and I have had good follow-up calls from them to assure my satisfaction. Here is what made me do business with Ethical Mattress: - attentive listening to my concerns - thorough explanations of mattresses in general and their product in particular - coming to understand the value of buying organic - feeling of trust that I was dealing with a reputable, customer-focused company - all commitments to delivery, removal, setup, and follow up were met - trust in dealing with B Company - satisfaction of buying from a company with values I share and believe in"

"Sorrry for the delayed review! Folks, we went to Ethical Mattress a few months ago with the intent of buying a new mattress for one room. We loved the experience - the people there are WONDERFUL - and over two weeks we ended up buying three mattresses with three adjustable beds. The deliveries were fast, smooth and pretty awesome and we love all of the beds. If you are in the market for a new bed, make Ehtical Mattress your first phone call and last.
